No se trata de un casco, un chaleco reflectante o un par de botas de trabajo con puntera de acero (aunque el beneficio de estos sencillos elementos es inconmensurable): la forma n\u00famero uno de evitar situaciones peligrosas en cualquier obra es una formaci\u00f3n adecuada.<\/p>\n<p>Recientemente, la ciudad de Nueva York aprob\u00f3 un proyecto de ley que obligar\u00e1 a determinados trabajadores de la construcci\u00f3n a recibir al menos 40 horas de formaci\u00f3n antes de pisar una obra. El proyecto de ley del ayuntamiento se llama Intro. 1447, y <a href=\"https:\/\/therealdeal.com\/2017\/09\/27\/controversial-construction-safety-bill-gets-council-approval\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">obligar a los contratistas y promotores no sindicados a proporcionar a sus trabajadores una formaci\u00f3n comparable en materia de seguridad<\/a> a la que los trabajadores sindicados han recibido durante a\u00f1os a trav\u00e9s de los programas de aprendizaje establecidos por los sindicatos.<\/p>\n<p>Desgraciadamente, quienes se oponen a esta legislaci\u00f3n no pueden rebatirla; ya aleguen retrasos o un aumento exponencial del papeleo, todo se reduce a una cuesti\u00f3n de dinero perdido y dinero gastado.  Sin embargo, esas opiniones son miopes, ya que los accidentes y las muertes paralizantes suponen un coste que no se liquida f\u00e1cilmente en los libros de contabilidad de una empresa de construcci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>A veces, incluso los supervisores in situ se resisten a este tipo de formaci\u00f3n de los empleados. Llevan tanto tiempo ocup\u00e1ndose de estas cuestiones que la mayor parte de ellas les resultan naturales, por lo que consideran que se trata de conocimientos de sentido com\u00fan que todos los que trabajan a sus \u00f3rdenes deber\u00edan conocer. El problema es que este enfoque hace que los accidentes en las obras sean demasiado frecuentes, como demuestran las cifras. Por ejemplo, la Oficina de Trabajo de EE.UU. afirma que los trabajadores de la construcci\u00f3n suelen ser responsables de la mayor\u00eda de las muertes de trabajadores cada a\u00f1o (los datos m\u00e1s recientes ascienden a 4.800 en 2015), <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bls.gov\/news.release\/pdf\/cfoi.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">la cifra m\u00e1s alta desde 2008<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>La Administraci\u00f3n de Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (OSHA) ofrece este tipo de formaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de un programa que denominan OSHA 10, una serie de cursos de formaci\u00f3n en l\u00ednea de 10 horas de duraci\u00f3n que cuestan aproximadamente $60 y abarcan temas como la protecci\u00f3n contra ca\u00eddas, los equipos de protecci\u00f3n individual (EPI), c\u00f3mo evitar la electrocuci\u00f3n y otros.
