Two people died and two others were seriously injured after a head-on collision in Pike County, Missouri, early Sunday morning, October 3, 2021.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, a Chevrolet Lumina was traveling east on MO 154 around 12:48 a.m. when it failed to stop at a stop sign and hit a semi-truck traveling west on US-54 head-on.
Troopers said both drivers, one a New London resident, age 19, and the other a resident of Hannibal, age 23, were pronounced dead at the scene by the Pike County deputy coroner just before 4:00 a.m.
They said neither were wearing safety devices.
Troopers said two other Hannibal residents, one age 22 and the other age 23, both sustained serious injuries. They relayed that at least one of these young men were not wearing a safety device and it is unknown if the other young man was wearing a safety device or not.
The driver of the semi, 56-year-old resident of Greentown, Indiana, was not injured. Troopers said he was wearing a safety device.
